Minnesotan Holiday Christmas Spirit?

Nestled in the central part of Minnesota lies the quiet little town of Alexandria, Minnesota. Everyone is busy putting the finishing touches on their Christmas Eve. With inches of additional snow and the downtown area festively decorated it almost has a "Norman Rockwell" feel to it. This downtown area is filled with last minute shoppers and the bakery is selling its cookies and cakes to alleviate the headache and hassle of last minute baking.

Everything has a cozy feel to it until you get to the marquee at the local performing arts theater. There on the board touting the next stage play is the title: 'I saw mommy killing Santa Claus'. The title alone has a Halloween feel to it which was over months ago and somehow manages to diminish the whole tranquil feeling you might have had upon entering town. Why would they do this? I can only assume its a comedy yet that joke doesn't seem funny or really bring a smile at all. Instead one may only sigh and wonder what the world is coming to. I can still hear my grandparents talking about the song 'I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus' and how risque it was at the time. I can only wonder what they would say today if they laid eyes on this today.

So in the spirit of 'Global Warming' I would like to introduce a new tag; 'Christmas Weirding'. As if the stores haven't commercialized Christmas already now we've got a whole new front to attack it on. Comedy?

I think those people are more creative when the weather is cold. I wonder why Mommy wants to kill Santa Claus? Perhaps she forgets to buy food!

Lol. Hunger can lead people to do strange things.

That does seem a bit out of character for the holiday season. But times are weird.

You know, thats exactly what I was thinking. Maybe they would feel like they just drove into the town of 'Twin Peaks'. Has anyone seen the 'log lady'?

Ha!..haven't seen the series, only read a little about it but its easy to guess...'log lady' sounds ominous too.
