New Home Owners
55Finally closing in
Thanks to some last minute heroics on behalf of our real estate agent, a plumber and a handyman we will finally seal the deal on our new house. We are in the last week before the end of the month hoping to close on the house and everything is left to chance. The bank who owns the foreclosed property has finally, after 4 weeks and 3 estimates, agreed to fix the plumbing problems that occurred after the house was winterized.
The plumber came in and did what plumbers do, he got to the problem by punching through walls and ceilings. It looked like a bomb went off but hey there's running water in the house now. Our real estate agent noting our discern over the disarray of the house immediately contacted a handyman to fix things up. She is swallowing the cost of the handyman to get this deal done.
To put this all into perspective you have to realize that this all took place within 4 days, we have waited 4 weeks for this moment to happen. We were supposed to close tomorrow, now we have to rent the home we just sold. Luckily we don't have to move twice.
We have been very stressed out, especially since we didn't know until today how this would work out and where we were going with our belongings. There were moments where we mapped out alternative plans, one of them being forgetting this house altogether and finding a different house. Now imagine if we were moving to a different state. How much more difficult and stressful would it have been to get all this done?
When we do sign the closing papers we would like to think that it was well worth the wait and hassle. Time will tell. We'll keep you posted.

Sounds like trying to change clothes in a fire truck on its way to fight a fire !
